The layering of complex ornament, simple construction methods, and the dynamic culture of Puglia, result in a building that can be sustainably constructed and maintained, while acting as a icon of cultural exuberance. The Palazzo Taranta is not only a space for La Notte Della Taranta, but it acts as a center for the musical community of Melpignano, as well as the whole region.

Fantastic Theater
Smart pattern. Through varying densities of patterned openings, the façade explores issues of ornament and scale, while addressing the intensity and amount of light and air let into the interior. The specific patterns are derived from the graphic sensibilities of traditional Puglian dress and ceramics.
Section
An assembly of distinct parts layers together to produce spaces which are activated by the environment and culture of Southern Italy.
Smart skin. Light and Air are filtered by the inner skin and outer façade.
